Let's take a brief overview how tandoors are made at Ram Chander & Sons.
Every Tandoor gets its shape in 6 stages:
- First(base) tier is build with wet clay and heated for
sometime at low temperature until it hardens.
- It is hammered softly with wooden bat.
- After 2-3 hrs point 1 and 2 are repeated for middle tier and
top tier.
- The total time to complete all the three tiers is 7-8 hrs.
- The top most tier is covered with a fine pipe shaped layer
of clay.
- It is kept in sun for 2 hrs.
- After that when the tandoor dries completely it is put in a
container.
- Gappings are filled with glasswool as heat insulator.
- Top is covered and proper holes are made for air vantilation.
